In season two of The Local, a Royal Caribbean original series, we continue our celebration of people from around the world, their unique stories and culture. In season two, we highlight four locals from Cuba.
Episode 1: Ballet prodigy Gabriela was accepted into the Cuban National Ballet School when she was 10 years old. Since then, she has gone to school six days a week, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. She works tirelessly and loves what she does. But there has never been a black prima ballerina in the Cuban National Ballet. Gaby is on her way to becoming the first.
Episode 2: Cuba is home to a unique type of restaurant called a paladar. Unlike other restaurants, a paladar is located inside a private home. Join Hubert, the host, and Manolo, the chef, as they recount their incredible journey of kindness, love, loss and delicious Cuban food.
Episode 3: Meet Enmanuel. Since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique Cuban rock formations called mogotes. As a kid, Enmanuel would take trips with his father, a biologist, into the Cuban countryside of Viñales. On one of those journeys, he remembers climbing to the top of a mogote and looking over the edge. But unlike most people, Enmanuel wasn’t afraid. Gradually, he fell in love with rock climbing and was able to combine his two passions, biology and rock climbing, as he has cared for the mogotes and their endemic species.
